My name is Dimos Spiropoulos. I am 36 years old and single. I was born and raised in Montreal, Canada by Greek parents
who immigrated to Canada in the middle of the 1960’s. They moved from Greece to Canada to build better lives for
themsleves, but never forgot their roots and always encouraged me to learn about my Greek heritage. My father is from
Kalamata and my mother is from Sparta and if you have seen the movie “300”, you have an idea of how proud Spartan
people are of their history and culture.
My parents worked very hard to provide our family with luxuries they never had as children growing up in Greece. In my
mother’s case, lack of luxuries is referring to things such as running water and shoes. Therefore, you can imagine that they
never allowed me to get complacent and take anything I had for granted. They taught me a strong work ethic and to take
responsibiltiy for my actions by holding me accountable for my behaviour. I will always be indebted to them for teaching
me the importance of integrity and family in one’s life.
I grew up in the inner-city of Montreal in the 1980’s and had many friends with diverse European backgrounds. I believe
that taught me how to be accepting and respectful towards other people’s cultures and beliefs. This is essential, especially
when living in a community and melting pot such as the one I lived in growing up and continue to live in today, when I
return home to Montreal.
In regards to my coaching philosophy, I believe that for a football team to be successful, it must resemble a family, both
on and off the field. Trust and cohesion amongst all of the members of the team is vital. To be honest, even if a team can
be successful on the field without these attributes - with those elements missing, winning loses it’s significance.
Furthermore, I consider myself a players’ coach and believe that building relationships with my players by getting to know
them off the field and taking an interest in their lives  is also important.
I have been coaching American Football in Europe for five years, including the last two of which in Switzerland as the
Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator of the Bienna Jets, leading them to a 6-2 record in 2007 and an 8-0 record in
2008 - while averaging 42 points per game.
Due to a lack of funding, the Jets did not renew my contract. Therefore, I am currently seeking employment as a Head
Coach or Offensive Coordinator with another American Football Club in Europe.
I have enjoyed coaching in Europe immensely and look forward to my next opportunity to do so. The reason for this is
because of the European team’s and player’s enthusiasm for this great game, as well as their eagerness to learn. As a
coach and teacher, I cannot ask for much more.
If you would like any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I’d be happy to answer any questions
you may have.
