Dear European Pro Football Organizations,
First off, THANK YOU in advance for considering me for the opportunity to be a part of your football club! Writing
this letter makes me realize how fortunate I am to be able to have come this far in my athletic journey.
I am 23 years old and grew up in South Dakota, a large agricultural-based state in the Midwestern United States.
My family consists of my mother and father, younger brother, and three sisters. I have been interested in almost
every sport, but grew up playing high school soccer, hockey, wrestling, baseball, and of course football. During my
childhood and high school I worked at a commercial garden that was owned by my father. The money was never
great and the work was always hard but over the years have come to understand what my father always preached,
“money is not the only form of payment”. I attribute much of my hard working attitude to growing up and working on
the farm. Intelligence and athleticism have helped me get to where I am in my life, but my work ethic is what I
attribute to most of my success.
After high school I received a few academic and one athletic scholarship to play football at Dakota State University
and signed on as a DSU Trojan. My college experience in the classroom and on the field was second to none
while I enjoyed every year of football and graduated with a 3.89 GPA with and received a business administration
degree. This degree fits me well as I have always had an entrepreneurial spark. After my junior year I asked my
coach why our season was not as good as it could have been. He responded with a one-word answer “money”. I
saw this as another opportunity. In short I created a product called the Trojan Card and was able to raise nearly
5000 dollars for the football team of which half was added on to my scholarship for my senior year. A win-win
opportunity. I also wanted to increase fan attendance at the games and created another program called
“TouchDown Reading”. I communicated with different teachers in the elementary school in town to coordinate
efforts to have myself and other DSU football players to come read books to the kids. After our reading sessions
we handed out free tickets to all the kids and their families. This was a tough sale to get the athletic director to
approve but after explaining the possible revenues that could be gained from apparel and concessions sales he
was all for it.
Immediately after graduating I was able to go for a goal that I had set as a junior in high school. I saw Slamball
(Full contact basketball on trampolines) 5 years ago and after the first preview I said aloud to the group, “I am
going to play that sport someday”. So, I did. It was the greatest experience of my life. I was an extreme underdog
to get drafted by a team. Being undersized, and not having much of a basketball background most people told me
I was crazy for even trying. In fact, after I was drafted into the league my teammates jokingly reffered to me as
“Rudy” (a movie about an underdog football player who finally got his chance).
I have talked enough about myself. I want any club out there that is interested in me to know that I will be an
attribute to your organization. I am a team player and a leader. I will do what I’m told and won’t be any trouble to
deal with. I love meeting new people and have a very extroverted personality. I love playing in front of big crowds
and I can motivate players and fans alike. I know what drives me—competition. I want to be the best in the room.
One of the greatest feelings in the world is sitting down with your teammates and having a cold beer to celebrate a
win. I understand that I not only represent myself, but also my family, my club and my country. Let me be your slice
of American pie.
Sincerely,
Noah Sanderson
