I am Corey Richards, a graduate of the University of Charleston. I recently received a bachelor’s degree in athletic
administration. During my senior year I was also one of five captains of the football team as well as an active
member of the organization fellowship of Christian athletes. I am writing this letter in hopes of acquiring a spot on
your team. In an attempt to prove to you why I am an idea candidate for a spot in your organization, I would like to
inform you about my background.
I was born and raised in Flint, MI where I lived with my mother and two of my brothers. I then went on to graduate
from Flint Central High school where I became passionately involved in various sporting activities. I was an active
member of my high school football team where I was a 2 year varsity player, playing positions of running back,
wide receiver, free safety and outside linebacker. I was also a member of the wrestling team where I was a four
year varsity wrestler, I was team captain also an all county and all conference wrestler. Some more of my
accomplishments include district and regional champ in boxing and placing 2nd in the Michigan Golden Gloves
State Tournament. After completing high school, I soared to higher heights by attending Northwood University
where I excelled not just in football but in my personal development. Northwood housed many students from
various countries, ethnicities who had different morals and values. As a result of the multicultural population, my
understanding and acceptance of diversity grew immensely. At Northwood I obtained an associates degree in
Entertainment, Sports, and Promotional Management.
After the completion of my degree, I transferred to the University of Charleston, where my passion for football and
Christ became more prominent in my life. My career goal after playing professional football is to work with this non-
profit organization of Flint, MI titled New Direction Youth Program. This program has been a true help to me and
plenty of kids from my city. The program consist of meeting twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays), on Tuesdays
we would go to the U of M-Flint and do homework for an hour followed by multiple games of basketball, on
Thursdays we went to a church where Mr. Mckinney the Program director, would read us scriptures out of proverbs
for an hour then we would go play multiple games of basketball. This is just a some information to help you
understand me better.
