My name is Joshua Martyr.  I played football at York University, where I consummated my undergraduate studies
with Specialized Honours in Kinesiology and English as a second teachable subject.  After graduating from York
University I attended the University of Toronto where I completed my Bachelor of Education and am now certified
with the Ontario College of teachers.  I am currently teaching at the Montessori Private School of Kleinburg, where I
designed and have been implementing a special Physical Education curriculum.  I am also working for a real
estate office, personal training for the Continuing Education program of the Toronto District School Board and
completing a novel, which I intend to publish later on in the year.  All of my positions are part time and do not
impose the obligations of a contract, which allows me time for my training regime, as my primary ambition at this
point in my life is to play football.  I am able to drop everything if I am given the opportunity to play football.

I have played many sports throughout a lengthy and successful athletic career.  Starting at an early age, I played
soccer and represented Canada in a junior international tournament in Italy while in the eighth grade.  Throughout
my high school career I went to: OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) for wrestling, soccer
and rugby, YRAA for track and field, won excellence awards in football, rugby and volleyball, was given the high
school athlete of the year award four times and was presented with the student athlete Founders Award.

After much high school success in York Region football, I developed a love for the sport and played at the Running-
Back position for York University.  I am a cool, collected player, always relatively calm under pressure.  This allows
me to channel my focus to my duty on the field.  My personality has also helped me keep camaraderie with
coaches and moreover with teammates, with whom I have never had any sort of problem, or even disagreement
with.  At 6 feet, 216 pounds, I possess a unique combination of power, agility and outright speed, which make me
a significant offensive weapon in the backfield.  I believe I am also inventive on the field and utilize certain feats of
athleticism to achieve success that others might not, or could not attempt.  I also have reliable hands and was
often used as a slot receiver during one of my years at York.  My pass protection is exceptional, as is my capacity to
run screen plays, which have always yielded a large gain of yards for me.  I have run 40’s in 4.3 odd seconds
(hand timed) a handful of times during testing on the track at York and my speed gives any offence an
advantageous option on toss and stretch plays.  I use my agility in combination with speed for zone and cutback
plays, and use my weight and strength in conjunction with speed to rumble for short yardage.  With a vertical of 38
inches standing, I can make pivotal catches and am also useful for end zone dives.  In addition, I have played
every special team in numerous aspects, including kick-off and punt returns.

I have always been a profound athlete, but right now, I am also the greatest football player I have ever been.  The
physical abilities I was blessed with allow me to give that added dimension to the Running Back position that is
desirable at the professional level.  In 2003 I played in the Canadian All-Star, East-West Bowl and in 2007 I finally
signed a contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL, both at running back.  Now, I am seeking to play
on a caliber team in Europe.  I look forward to the opportunity and I will make a valuable addition to the offensive
system I am made a part of.
